Spring weather brings more than just flowers & sunshine – it brings seasonal allergies. And while your nose is running, your dog can be suffering too.
Around this time of year your pup may start itching, licking, and biting at their skin, accompanied by redness & inflammation. These are common signs of allergies in dogs, and when they show up or worsen in the spring and fall, they are likely seasonal.
Symptoms to look out for:
Scratching and biting at their skin (especially on paws and belly)
Obsessive paw licking
Red and inflamed skin
Chronic ear infections or red, waxy ears
Yeast build up (mainly in ears & paws)

While we know your pup can’t avoid the outdoors, there are ways to reduce their discomfort. The best way to fight allergy symptoms is to combat inflammation and boost the immune system, and luckily we have all the remedies for that!
OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS
This super-supplement can be given with Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Oil to reduce inflammation. Supplementing with EPA & DHA can prohibit inflammatory signaling pathways while also binding to immune cells for anti-inflammatory benefits. These are given easily by adding the oil to your pup’s meals or including more oily fish, like sardines, in their diet.
CBD OIL
Dogs have an endocannabinoid system with receptors that respond to CBD, making it highly effective. CBD interacts with the immune system to reduce inflammation and manage the immune response. This works especially well if a dog is experiencing pain from their allergy symptoms. CBD works best when administered daily in oil form for the quickest absorption.
INCLOVER ALLERGY POWDER
This supplement is our seasonal allergy holy grail due to its support of the immune system as well as the histamine response. Turkey tail mushroom and bromelain are included due to their potent immune support. The real difference in this formula comes from the mangosteen and quercetin, which both promote normal histamine and prostaglandin responses. Since both of these responses are triggered by seasonal allergies and their symptoms, getting them in line is key to reducing discomfort.
MUSHROOMS
Nature’s anti-inflammatory! Mushrooms are full of bioavailable nutrients that block inflammation, making them key to the diet of a pup with allergies. They can be found in supplemental powders to ensure your dog is getting enough to make a true difference in their symptoms. While all edible mushrooms are anti-inflammatory, the most potent are Reishi, Chaga, Turkey Tail, and Lion’s Mane.
PROBIOTICS
Most health issues can be linked to gut bacteria, so it’s always beneficial to add a probiotic to their diet. It’s important to rotate between brands so your dog gets a variety of strains in their system, and doesn’t get overloaded with one type. Along with decreasing inflammation, a healthy gut microbiome will ensure immune cells are in a restorative, not inflammatory, state.
